ITALY (Lombardy) - 9.671.564 bottles Franciacorta were sold on the market in 2008, which is an increase of 15 percent in comparison to 2007. This data obviously proves the growing succes and the spreading tendency of consumers to not be influenced by seasonal buying: according to the gathered data, Franciacorta is still a quality choice for special occasions, however, at the same time it is now more often also chosen together with every meal throughout the whole year.


The types Satèn and Rosè have become people's favorites beside the Franciacorta herb. The Satèn has crossed the one million mark of produced bottles and thus has recorded an increase of 29 percent in comparison to 2007. Even more exceptionell is the boom of the Rosè, of which more than 2 million bottles (+51 percent) have been sold. As well as the increase in growing fields for the origin name Franciacorta to 2.215 hectares (+5 percent compared with 2007), the number of members of the syndicate went up to a total of 366 members to date.

Franciacorta's succes  is not limited to only Italy, but also influences the Northern- and Middle-European countries, especially Germany, which was the main importer with 30 percent of export. "These results are very supporting", explains Ezio Maiolini, President of the Syndicate, "this really makes up for the hard work that all the employees of this branch did in spite of the strict rules and regulations." For the director Adriano Baffelli, Franciacorta is more and more a synonym for excellence, culture and quality of living of the growing region.

The more and more outstanding numbers of the Franciacorta confirm the validity of the way that the producers of the region around Brescia chose. Their philosophy has always been marked by straight investments and coherency. The popularity and success of the Franciacorta are also confirmed by numerous awards and the recognition by the most important wine leaders: among 54 of the various awarded bubblies of classic production methods 33 of the awardees were Franciacorta- wines: That is a proud 62 percent of all awarded wines.
