In one of these containers in the Black Sea port of Varna (Bulgaria), international custom officers have found highly concentrated cocaine, stored in wine bottles

BULGARIA (Sofia) - On Friday, Bulgarian custom officers seized 714 liters of highly concentrated cocaine in liquid form, hidden in wine bottles. The drugs were found in a shipment of wine loaded in Bolivia, the Bulgarian customs authorities said.

The cocaine had been stored in more than 1000 bottles labeled as "Kohlberg"- wine, which were mixed with genuine wine bottles from Bolivia. According to custom authorities, the mission took place in cooperation with the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) following a six-month long operation.

"Varna had not been chosen by the drug smugglers as destination port by accident. It is the largest port in Bulgaria, there is an international airport and there are daily ferries travelling from Odessa to Istanbul. All those factors apparently are ideal prerequisites for further distribution", said a spokesman of customs authorities in Bulgaria. (aw.yoopress)
