The Domain de la Passion awakens once again
Chateau Haut-Brion verliert einen langjährigen und wichtigen Partner
Chateau Haut- Brion not only loses a long –time, but also an important partner

FRANCE (Bordeaux) - After 30 years now, the small "Domaine de la Passion Haut-Brion", located in the heart of the Haut- Brion vineyards, has decided to produce and distribute wines under its own name from the 2009 vintage on. The Domaine de la Passion has already vinified and distributed its own wines from 1954 to 1978 until a wine-growing and cooperation agreement with the world-famous neighbour, Chateau Haut- Broin was being concluded. For the past 3 decades, since 1979, the grapes have been harvested under the survey of the powerful partner where grapes have only been delivered to.

However, this cooperation is already past. With the support of the experienced oenologist Stéphane Derenoncout, who is working for many Bordolaise wineries with his consultant company Vignerons, Dr. Allary Michel, the current owner of the domaine, has the hearts to produce his own wines.

Currently, the Domaine de las Passion possesses a total of 1,4 hectares of wine-growing area, planted to 60% Cabernet Franc and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. Allary was able to reserve precisely 2,400 bottles from the 2008 vintage for the distribution.

Louis Fournier, Allary´s business partner, told the press the following: "Above all this was a family decision". Dr. Allary grew up on this winery, he has been manager and winemaker for many years, and he has a understanding for the region´s terroir. A grandson of Dr. Allary is very interested in winemaking and the wine business, therefore, a successor is already in sight.

A winery with an underground cellar is currently being built, and is simultaneously being prepared for the 2009 crop. The wines of the Domain de la Passion will be entirely distributed through negociants in Bordeaux. So far, Chateau Haut- Brion did not comment the decision of its former partner.
