„Help, I’ll be 70“ – Werner Knipser from the Palatinate Region Was Forced to Celebrate

GERMANY (Laumersheim) – The invitation almost sounded like a cry for help. “I’ll be 70 – yet, I’m forced to celebrate. Come along and help me!” Werner Knipser, vintner in Laumersheim, Palatinate, and one of the big stars within Germany’s wine scene, had completed his seventh decade. Even though he actually refused to be the center of attention on his birthday – his being able to welcome long-term companions among his customers and above all among from viticulture was like a psychological foot-bath to him. Among the persons who followed the invitation were Joachim Heger from Baden, Helmut Dönnhoff from the Nahe region, Wilhelm Haag and Uli Stein from the Moselle region, and Daniel Gantenbein from Switzerland.
