GERMANY (Mainz) - On 25. June, the administrative board of the Deutscher Weinfonds (DWF - German Wine Fund) elected Johannes Hübinger and Ingo Steitz as new members to the Fund´s board of governors in Mainz, Germany. The rise in the number of board members from 7 to 9 was due to a change in wine laws, which came into force on 1. April this year.

Johannes Hübinger was elected to the board of governors as an additional representative for wine trade. Since the late 70s he has been successful director of the winery Zimmermann-Graeff & Müller (ZGM) in Zell an der Mosel. Ingo Steitz is a vintager and has been the President of Viniculture of the biggest arable land Rhine-Hesse since 2003.

The board of directors makes decisions concerning all the issues that are the jurisdiction of the DWF and does this in accordance with the orders given by the administrative board. These decisions normally have direct consequences for the work of the DWI (Deutsches Weininstitut - German Wine Institution), whose partner, among others, is the DWF.

Norbert Weber is Chairman of the Board and also President of the German Association for viniculture. Other members of the board are representative chairman Dr. Herbert Rasenberger (WIV AG, Langenlonsheim) as well as Werner Kirchhoff (Moselland eG, Bernkastel-Kues) Dr. Rudolf Nickenig (Association Deutscher Weinbauverband e.V., Bonn), Peter Rotthaus (Bundesverband der deutschen Weinkellereien und des Weinfachhandels e.V. Trier - registered society for German wineries and wine trade), Adolf Schmitt (winery Ökonomierat A. Schmitt, Konz-Filzen) and Karl Schmitz (Association - Deutscher Raiffeisenverband, Bonn).
