ITALIEN (Scansano) - The board of directors of the Consorzio del Morellino, which took its office two weeks ago, voted for Elisabetta Geppetti as its new President and the members of the council Bruni and Mantellassi as their new vice presidents. Elisabetta Geppetti, the owner of Fattoria Le Pupille, is taking over the position of the resigned Alessandro Bargagli. This is a role that she had already in 1992 when she set the guidelines of the local wine politics in cooperation with the consortium and when she did her best to support the quality of the Morellino and its presence on the market. Today she is returning to the responsible office.

"This position is very challenging and requires a lot of responsibility", describes Elisabetta Geppetti. "I have always believed in the Maremma and its denominations and I am very proud that I can contribute to it now", she said. "I will prove my committment and I will do everything to strengthen the Maremma. This will require a lot of time and effort on my part, but it is my goal to do this systematically. If we want to see our wine region grow and see it with even more potential, we have to appear in the right section of the wine world", stresses the winemaker.

Elisabetta Geppetti is 45 years old, she has five children and her winery produces 500.000 bottles a year. This is a very short description of her, however. Elisabetta Geppetti has been working with Fattoria Le Pupille for more than 20 years. The businesses name is now history. It is among the very first wineries that brought out the wine world of Maremma. It is no coincidence that the renowned trade journal Der Feinschmecker made the "Signora del Morellino" winemaker of the year 2006. Elisabetta Geppetti has proven that the region can produce strong Supertuscans like the elegant Saffredi. (red.yoopress)
