European Master degree course in viniculture and oenology with Geisenheim support receives Erasmus-Mundus status from the European Commission

GERMANY (Geisenheim) - The new EU-Master degree course "Vinifera" from 2007, which is held in the universities Lisbon (Portugal), Madrid (Spain), Udine (Italy), the Supagro Montpellier/ENITA Bordeauy (France) and the research facility/college, faculty Geisenheim (with administrative participation of the University of Gießen), was awarded the Erasmus-Mundus-status as one of the 39 study courses for the period 2009-2013. This status allows the awarding of for example EU-scholarships to non-European students.

The EU allowed a total of 8385 scholarships for students and academic employees within the whole Erasmus-Mundus program for 2009-2010. As of now, there are 20 students enrolled in this course, which will be held in Montpellier in English and signed there by teachers of all partner universities. Besides Montpellier, Geisenheim has the largest part of the courses.

Roughly 50 percent of students will complete their second year of study in Geisenheim. Also due to the EU-award, a steadily increasing number of students is expected for 2009-2013. (red.yoopress)
