Geisenheim elects chairman of the commission oenology at the OIV

CROATIA (Zagreb) - Prof. Dr. Monika Christmann (Germany), Research facility Geisenheim was elected chairwoman of the commission "oenology" of the international organization of vine and wine (OIV).

In the election on the occasion of the OIV-meeting in Zagreb, Prof. Dr. Monika Christmann had 38 out of 38 votes by countries and 115,6 of 117,6 weighted votes (based on production area, import, consumption etc.). An impressive result and a clear sign for the quality of the Geisenheim "oenology" in research and education.

She will remain elected for 3 years and afterwards Prof. Christmann will automatically become vice president for another 3 years.

Furthermore, Prof. Dr. Manfred Großmann was awarded the Medal for Merit of the OIV for his long-time support in the branch microbiology and biochemistry. Prof. Dr. Reiner Wittkowski, chairman of the scientific co-council of the research facility Geisenheim was named first honorary president of the OIV on the same day. (red.yoopress)
