GERMANY (Freudenberg) - For the first time, the exclusive hotel and restaurant association Relais &Châteaux and experts of the Sommelier Union Germany have selected the best sommelier in Germany in a nationwide competition in 2011. The event takes place on an international level and will in future be held every two years. The winner will get the title “Best Sommelier of Germany 2011” – Trophy Relais & Châteaux/ Sommelier Union Germany. He receives a trophy and a one-week trip to a French wine-growing region and will be representing the Sommelier Union at respective World and European championships.
In preliminary decisions, which will be held in three regional locations in Dresden, Bergisch-Gladbach, and in the Black Forest on May 2nd, 20011, an expert jury will choose six semi-finalists. The semifinals and the finals will take place on May 23rd, 2011 at an exclusive, festive gala in front of 200 guests (German celebrities, wine experts, gourmets and media) in the “Relais & Châteaux Burg Schwarzenstein” in the Rheingau. With the host Günter Jauch, the organizers were able to recruit a prominent member of the jury, which will bring a suitable media presence to the competition. (red.yoopress)
