100 years VDP – Celebrate with us! - Vineyard lights at the Würzburg Stein

GERMANY (Würzburg) – For the 100-year-anniversary of the German certified wineries (VDP – Verein der Prädikatsweingüter) the Franconian VDP-wineries will let the vineyards at the Würzburg Stein glow. Wine lovers are invited to the Meinwiesen at the German unity-bridge on March 6, 2010 starting at 7 PM, where the exceptional light spectacle will take place, accompanied by a terrific open-air event.

Eyes-Mouth-Ears-feast

A zappy debate about the topic of “top wines” will start the event. Jürgen Gläser (Channel Bayerischer Rundfunk) will greet guests, vintagers, wine experts and wine lovers. How steep does a top vine position have to be? Why are there big wines only from the Ersten Lagen? Why hasn't there been a Bacchus Grosses Gewächs?

For the city event “Weinbergsleuchten” (vineyard lights) on the occasion of the “100th anniversary of the VDP – Celebrate with us!”, the 30 Franconian VDP-wineries offer guests their best wines to be tasted, together with local delicacies from Franconian top chefs, while you can look at the Wuerzburg Stein in the background – a tribute of the VDP wineries to the best vine positions in Germany. By the way, the event will take place in every weather.

After-show on board

In the late evening, the young generation VDP is inviting its guests to the “Das Boot” - Würzburg's swimming club, which is located directly across the river from the Meinwiesen. (aw.yoopress)
