For the 13th time in a row, the successful series of events KINO VINO, which combines going to the movies with enjoying wines, is scheduled to take place in September 2008. KINO VINO was initiated by the Department for Viniculture in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany.

"This year, film- and wine fans will have the chance to enjoy the movies and to taste wines at the same time in 27 movie theaters in Rhineland-Palatinate", explains Hendrik Hering, Secretary of Viniculture in Rhineland-Palatinate.

"I am very happy about the increasing popularity of the KINO VINO series, which is just one part of the diverse international wine-marketing programs of our Department for Viniculture. It makes it possible to display the quality of wines in Rhineland-Palatinate in a very attractive way", he added.

Hering is encouraging vintagers from all parts of Rhineland-Palatinate to take part. The KINO VINO wines 2008 are supposed to be wines from the following types of grape and origin:

  • So-called Ahr- and Frühburgunder or pinot noir dry
  • Riesling Classic or half-dry from the Middle-Rhine
  • Riesling fruity and grape juice from the Moselle
  • so-called Naheburgunder and pinot gris dry
  • pinot blanc dry and Dornfelder dry from Rhineland-Palatinate
  • Silvaner and champagne herb or extra dry from Rhine-Hesse

Roughly 300 bottles per type are required. Two bottles each (per winery one product) can be sent to the Kompetenzzentrum für Weinmarkt und Weinmarketing des Landes Rheinland-Pfalz, Wormser Str. 111, 55276 Oppenheim with the designation "KINO VINO 2008". Wines can be sent there by 18. July 2008. The selection of the wines will take place at the beginning of August in form of a blind taste testing by a jury of experts.

"I will introduce the KINO VINO wines 2008 to the public in the late summer and will give the starting shot for this year´s program", announces Secretary of Viniculture, Hendrik Hering. (red.yoopress)
