Three young DLG winemakers: Eco- winemaker Timo Dienhart (zur Römerkelter winery in Maring-Noviand), Peter Klein (Gerhard Klein wine estate in Hainfeld) and Franziska Schätzle (Gregor undnd Thomas Schätzle winery, Vogtsburg-Schelingen)

GERMANY (Frankfurt) - The title "Young winemaker of the year" has been awarded by the German Agricultural Society (DLG) for some years now. By doing so, the association wants to help young winemakers to make their mark and to promote the family-owned winery. However, the talents have to give proof of their skills and knowledge (theoretical and practical) in front of a jury of experts at first.

Currently, there are three winemakers from the Mosel region (eco-winemaker Timo Dienhart, zur Römerkelter winery in Maring- Noviand), from the Pfalz region (Peter Klein from the Gerhard Klein winery in Hainfeld) and from the Baden region (Franziska Schätzle from the Gregor und Thomas Schätzle wine estate inVogtsburg-Schelingen).

These three talents have now compiled a sample for wine enthusiasts including typical and high-quality wines coming from their respective wine estates. This package can be ordered per email info@dlg-jungwinzer.de or per telephone 06535-430. The prize is 30 Euros plus shipping costs, or you can order a package including 6 wines for 60 Euros, with two different bottles from the respective wine estates. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the "Wine saves life e.V." aid agency, which helps children who are in need. The organization is supported by German winemakers, wine merchants and other representatives of the wine scene.

The sample package marks the beginning of a small campaign launched in the next couple of months. The three winemakers will go on tour as of February 2010. The campaign will be hosted in Köln, Hamburg, Berlin, Frankfurt/Main and Munich. The motto is "Look for the best". The first wines of the latest vintage and other aged wines will be presented. The exact dates will soon be published on the website of the young DLG winemakers. (r.knoll)
