The festival’s unique atmosphere is not only due to its idyllic location, but also to the high standards of the eight organizers and the unerring choice of programs providing for the finishing touch

GERMANY (Kleinbottwar) – They have found big shoes and they fit in brilliantly - the estate’s successors Marcel Wiedenmann, Andreas Roth and Markus Bruker. As successors, three of the six wine makers of the Bottwar Valley festival of wine and culture are already in charge of vintages in the cellar.

They are individual self-confident personalities and yet have many similarities. Ambition and quality-oriented work are just two of them. Already all their fathers have produced excellent wines, they themselves have the ambition to exceed them. The three set their own ideas into practice with indigenous grape varieties, a precise terroir or with organic cultivation, for example. Knowing that Bacchus always meant well for the vintages, which they have been allowed to produce so far, and having sufficient self-criticism not to overvalue their performance.

And yet, their eyes are flashing when they talk about the 2009 vintage. A vintage, which one more offered them the great opportunity to show what is possible. Still, many a red wine is still aging in barrels, but, in addition to white wines with fruity and mineral notes, the first red wine of the 2009 vintage can also be tasted,.

Moreover, all six winemakers agree: “The Bottwar Valley is worth it.” What Dippon Hartmann puts in a nutshell with these four words at the press conference on July 1st is the proof for the festival organizers, that more can be achieved together.

Almost 20 years of festival organization have developed into a cooperation and mutual learning reaching far beyond the Days of Culture, from which the entire Bottwar Valley benefits. The festival and the valley are known far beyond national borders, the winemakers and restaurateurs have an excellent reputation and the scenic charms of the Bottwar Valley appeal to foreign guests.

The organizers are obviously pleased with that and yet: The festival of wine and culture will only take place every two years. Preparations for the five day- event are a massive effort, which cannot be handled by them and their supporters more often. Here, gratitude is expressed to those responsible for the music program by the Upper Bottwar Valley Cultural Association and to the numerous sponsors and the countless volunteers who are working in back- and foreground of the festival.

Anyone, who is interested in experiencing a wine culinary highlight again, can still get tickets for the culinary wine tasting on Monday. The delightful menu, which will astonish some people, is “embedded by chocolate”. You will not only be excited about the first bite of “zander in chocolate crust”. However, at his point we will not reveal any further details. (irmtraud.mühlbauer-aw.yoopress)
