The white gold not only has a long tradition as a material for fine wine vessels, but other pieces of porcelain have always been decorated with vine leaves, grapes and wine motifs in relation to wine drinking, -growing and -production, of course. Understandably the connection between wine and china is especially great in Meissen, for not only the European porcelain production has its roots here - the “Meissen porcelain manufactory” was the first European factory founded in 1710 - but also the first wine in Saxony was grown here in 1611.

The combination of wine and porcelain is hosted by Ralf Roscher, who is a porcelain restorer, who learned his trade in the Meissen porcelain manufactory from scratch, and who has been the head of the “Porzellanrestaurierung Roscher” in Meissen (Plangasse 8) for 20 years. “I will present selected pieces of Meissen porcelain, which focus on wine and will talk about many interesting things about the links between china and wine. In addition, guests will also get some tips from me, on how to distinguish original Meissen porcelain from a counterfeit, for example,” said Ralf Roscher.
Wines will not miss out on the event “porcelain and wine”, of course. “After a welcome Saxecco, we will taste four Saxon wines, two whites, a rosé and a red wine,” reveals Sandy Prüger, event coordinator at the winery. Moreover, participants will experience an exciting audio-visual journey through the history of wine in the historic, lovingly restored cellars and in the production area of the wine cooperative.
