The top wines came from a total of five vintagers from around the Neusiedlersee river: Erwin Tinhof from Eisenstadt, Franz Heiss from Illmitz, winery Elfenhof from Rust, Hans & Christine Nittnaus from Gols and Martin Pasler from Jois. Naturally, the mentioned Australian vintagers were extremely happy to be the winners of this competition.
The "Concorso internazionale di vini passiti" recorded 20 percent more visitors this year and 300 more wines were presented, compared to the first competition in 2007. This plus was actually expected by the organizers of the "Accademia della muffa mobile". "We deeply believe in our competition, because the fans of dessert wines deserve to compare and taste their favorite wines worldwide", says a spokesman. "The producer's also appreciate this more and more, which makes us very happy. We are currently already planning ahead for 2010."
The board members of the competition are members of the Italian sommelier association ASPI (Associazioine della sommellerie professionale italiana), which in turn is part of the Association de la Sommellerie Internationale. (aw.yoopress)
