GERMANY (Würzburg) - "The Juliusspital will have some of it's 2011range of products just in time for the 2011 ProWein", says a press statement. This sure makes us curious and we wanted to find out more. We met with cellar master Benedikt Then and winery director Horst Kolesch to talk about the 2010 vintage and the upcoming fair ProWein:

"We definitely had a lot of work in the vineyard and cellar this year. With a huge amount of effort, picking helpers selected only the best grapes", summarizes the experienced cellar master Benedikt Then: "In terms of the work we did, it definitely seemed like we had been working 2 years worth of vintages! We had to examine very single group of grapes, clear the must and rapidly finish everything else".

"Thus, the whole "Team J" looks forward to presenting their wines to the public at the upcoming ProWein" says winery director Horst Kolesch and says about his vintage: "Our grape products have very clear, brilliant fruit aromas and a lively feeling in the mouth. Our well-known Lagen-classic wines show a very strong mineral content and an attractive complexity, combined with a very nice play of tounge and gums. Our 2010 wines are a lot of fun for sure!"

For the very first time, Wuerzburg is presenting a white Burgundy Kabinett, which enhances the modern grape range of products. Thus, the Grosse Gewaechs of Volkacher Karthäuser now has a "little brother", which will, however, only be known by insiders, since the site name cannot be found on the label.

As we would expect from the largest Silvaner winery in the world, the focus will the be Franconian parade vine type. Silvaner in its rarest forms, can be seen and experienced in hall 4, stand 4g27/J77 - a nice trip through the Franconian sites and different quality levels. (red.yoopress)
