TRAIDE FAIRS

A wake-up call of discoveries at the 2013 ProWein – Part II

GERMANY (Düsseldorf) - Austria has special status with its stands in Hall 7, which has been reserved for years exclusively for Germany’s neighbor, who are celebrating a new sales record (47.4 million liters worth 132.2 million Euro). We definitely recommend exploring the new or lesser known wines. You will find extravagant amphora of wine at Fred Ploder (Ploder-Rosenberg) from the South-East Styria. This biodynamic producer has a white Cuvée for example, which matured on the wash for two and a half weeks in kegs that were buried in the ground. Once taken out, bare hands (!) were used to press the grapes and the juice was put back in the keg, where it was fermented and later bottled without any filtering. The result: firm, tangy independent wines. The price of 43 Euro is due to the “handwork” (www.ploder-rosenberg.at).
