"In the depths of about 30 meters, where the temperatures of the sea are solid between 12 and 13 degrees Celsius, my wines can mature under ideal conditions", explains Ivan Simonic. "The steady movement of the waves replaces the methods we use in shaking the wine".
Ivan Simonic's wines are about 100 euro (135 dollar) per bottle and he says: "If wine lovers are interested in this surely unusual wine, I will further work on this idea and build a wine cellar on the seabed".
Simonic's idea is not really anything new. Experts have proven many times before that it is a good idea to store wines in the ocean, where it is dark and always the same temperature so that even after decades the wine's quality is still perfect. The idea is neat - however, let's see if particularly bubbly wines develop the way they should and whether the wine scene will accept such wines in the first place. (red.yoopress)
