&Nature has equipped him with wealth, with complete expression of its terroir, which is accompanied by an astonishingly natural acid. A distinct tannin structure and an unexceptionally high content of polyhen top this wine off.
"It seems as though every vine type has done its best", explains Leonardo Raspini, general director and agronomist of the Tenuta dell'Ornellaia. "The Merlot fascinates by its intensive aromas and tight structure, the Cabernet Franc presents itself with a first-class quality, the Cabernet Sauvignon proves great style and the Petit Verdot is simply unique", he adds.
The effusiveness of this vintage results from the climatic process, which only brought a small amount of precipitation and temperatures that were not too extreme. This mix enables the vines of the Tenuta dell'Ornellaia to build a very balanced fruitiness in relation to the skin and fruit pulp.
"From the very beginning I was deeply impressed by the fresh tannines", says Axel Heinz, oenologist of the Tenuta dell'Ornellaia. "Long-lasting and elegant tannines, which are particularly characteristic for big wines. The 2006 Ornellaia is a balanced wine with a great personality", he explains.
The Tenuta dell'Ornellaia cultivates 97 hectares at the Tuscan coast very close to the medieval village of Bolgheri and the famous cypress alley. For the past 20 years, the relentless work of the teams and the ideal microclimatic and geologic circumstances there have been producing wines that are very successful even internationally. The first Ornellaia vintage was one of 1985. In 2001, the American wine magazine "Wine Spectator" named the 1998 Ornellaia wine of the year. The Tenuta dell'Ornellaia is very much recognized by the national and international media. You can find their wines among those rated best in Italian wine guides like Gambero Rosso, Espresso, Duemilavini AIS and Luca Maroni. (aw-yoopress)
