According to Beynats estimates, in four years not Italy will have most wine consumption worldwide, but rather the United States. It is likely that more than 3.8 bn bottles of wine will be drunk a year. It was only two years ago that Italy was number one worldwide in comparison to France where -until then- most wine had been consumed. However, consumption in France has been decreasing for years.
According to French experts, there will also be an increase in wine growing, namely by more than 4 percent. Thus, wine cellars produce more than 35 bn bottles of wine within four years. Vinexpo director Beynat's estimates refer to 28 wine growing countries and 114 consumer markets. (aw.yoopress)
