"We are happy that the future of Richards Walford is save now”, Roy Richards and Mark Walford, so far the owners of the company, said in a common press release with Berry Bros & Rudd. “Our customers can now enjoy the convenience of a bigger product range, and our suppliers have access to a still broad market”, Roy Richards states more precisely.
And John Hutton, director of the Morris & Verdin wine agency, which, too, belongs to Berry Bros and Rudd, says: “BBR has had a strong presence on the British market ever since. During the past eight years, important companies have successfully been joined together. At the beginning, BBR purchased the Morris & Verdin and the Mistral Wines companies, and the taking over of the Richards Walford company matches the long-term strategy of Berry Bros & Rudd.”
* The Richards Walford company was founded in 1982 by Roy Richards and Mark Walford as import agency in order to place wines from renowned French producers on the British market. To achieve this, they worked as négociants in Bordeaux and run a subsidiary there, besides the headquarters in London.
* Berry Bros & Rudd (BBR) was founded in 1698, and since then, it has been working in the international wine business; in 2011, the company attained a turnover of 142 million ₤ (about 170 million euro). In Japan and in Shanghai and Hong Kong, the two Chinese metropolises, the company is running sales offices. At the moment, the Berry Bros and Rudd company has a total of about 240 employees in the UK and 40 more employees in Asia.. (red.yoopress)
