FRANCE (Reims) - Edouard Labruyère, who already owns as much as the Jacques Prieur domain, Mersault, the Château Rouget, Pomerol, and the Labruyère Moulin à Vent domain, Beaujolais region, has now taken over a further domain: the Christian Busin domain. This wine estate includes 6.5 hectares Grand Cru vineyards, 65 percent of them being cultivated with Pinot Noir, and 35 percent with Chardonnay. According to media reports, the purchase has been completed as early as at the end of June.

Nadine Bublin, an oenologist caring about the Labruyère estates at the moment, will from now on care about vinification in the Busin domain. It is planned to increase the yields drastically and to concentrate on the development of a terroir style. Until the level of quality will be reached, the wine names will remain the same.

“Oh, yes, I have been looking for an estate in the Champagne region for long – quite intensively since 2008”, Edouard Labruyère explains. “Since, I have visited 35 domains but the large houses always were strong competitors. Now I’m happy to have achieved to purchase a promising domain.”

Die Busin domain was said to be bankrupt – though it produces 66,000 bottles a year. Labruyère admits that there is to do a lot. “But the grapes are in good condition, and the terroir is excellent, and it is in one of the most beautiful parts of the Montagne de Reims”, he says. (red.yoopress)
