Just recently, Marc Clemens and Arno Steguweit initiated Sommelier Privé, a unique online program for experienced and new wine lovers. "We're combining the easiness of online shopping with expert advise from sommeliers", explains founder Marc Clemens and refers to his business partner Arno Steguweit. Steguweit is one of the leading wine experts in Germany and worked among others with the "Fischers Fritz" (Berlin, two Michelin-stars) and „Söl’ring Hof“ (Sylt, also **). In 2004 he was the youngest certified sommelier in Germany and in 2007 he was named Berlin's sommelier of the year (also as the youngest).
Sommelier Privé offers five different programs as well as individual wine packages or "plans" that will be selected for the customer through online quizes, order history and ratings. "In the top restaurants we try to find the wine that fits perfectly with the meal - with Sommelier Privé we find the wine that fits perfectly with the customer", explains Steguweit. The selected wines are only from personally selected wineries and they come in a very attractive packaging. Steguweit prefers small but exclusive wineries: "We are the exclusive online supplier for most of the wines offered through this website."
When it comes to tastings, Steguweit has specific parameters for the wines that will match the customer's taste and preference. Thus, the customer gets sample packages with extraordinary discoveries of "private" sommeliers, which drastically reduces the disappointment customers face when "blindly" ordering a wine. "In order to make it as comfortable as possible for our customers, we are offering a 3-month subscription that will send 3 bottles a month to the customer", explains startup-business man Marc Clemens. "But there's no risk for the new wine lover, because he can cancel or skip a shipment at any time. This is why we're convinced that this is a perfect gift for wine friends that are too busy to do extended online shopping." (red.yoopress)
