However, this scandal is not related to the Brunello affair, which has been brought up in our ear-lier news coverage. The so called counterfeit wine which in parts apparently contained hydro-chloric acid and fertiliser was apparently produced or brought into the market by the respective producers.
L´ Espresso, the Italian news magazine which uncovered the affair, has published a list of the Italian department of health including the following company names:
- Acetificio Pontiroli, San Felice sul Panaro (Modena)
- Azienda Agricola Rizzello spa, Cellino San Marco (Brindisi)
- Cantina Campi, Seclì (Lecce)
- Cantina Sgarzi, Castel San Pietro (Bologna)
- Cantine Borgo San Martino, La Morra (Cuneo)
- Cantine Soldo, Chiari (Brescia)
- Casa Vinicola Poletti, Imola (Bologna)
- Cooperativa tre produttori, Latiano (Brindisi)
- Coppa Angelo & f. snc, Doglieni (Cuneo)
- Nuova Commerciale, Ovada (Alessandria)
- Morettoni Spa, Santa Maria degli Angeli (Perugia)
- Sarom Vini srl, Castel Bolognese (Ravenna)
- Vinicola Marseglia, Ortanova (Foggia)
- Vinicola Santa Croce, Monteforte d'Alpone (Verona)
These above- mentioned companies are said to be involved in the scandal. Furthermore, L´ Espresso reports that Italian authorities are currently investigating the business relations of these companies to distributors from Apulia in order to clarify allocation of the wines. (red.yoopress)
