Now almost 5000 guests, according to the powerless police's estimates, rush to the tables and chairs, preferrably at couryards or known roads, and this time on the Place de la Concorde, at the bottom of the Champs Elysées. It is only a matter of a couple of minutes that the white tables are filled with silverware and supplies, glasses and napkins. Wine and champagne bottles are opened as if by magic. All of this happens under the astounded faces of the police.
"It is an annual fun event that always takes place in June and always on a Thursday, however the date and the location is a secret matter to the authorities", explained a participant of the press and adds: "This is the 10th year that I am taking part. First we all talked on the cell phone about where we wanted to meet and now we just send some sms. Anyone that is not in our circle of friends will not find out".
Only the organizations and very few of the leading participants know the date and the time this event will take place. They will then inform someone they trust that, then, invite their friends really quick. Everyone knows that the strange wine-culinary event takes place in June, however when and where it happens only becomes known hours or even minutes by sms.
"The organization is set up after a military example", says another participant. "One group buys the wines, the other one takes care of the transport of the supplies and then others organize the meals. In the beginning it was always a little chaotic, but now everybody knows how it works and we have a lot of fun doing it".
This wine-culinary and strangely fancy, however not authorized banquet has taken place the 20th time now. Last year, the organization chose the Place de l´Etoile, this year it was the Champs-Elysées. Now the authorities can take a wild guess as to where the event is going to take place next year. Never have they managed to find out beforehand, which makes it even more fun for all the participants. (aw.yoopress)
