Typical situation: People drink wine in restaurants. What Karl Lagerfeld has to say about that - Watching people drink wine makes me feel like an idiot

FRANCE (Paris) - The star designer Karl Lagerfeld called for an end to the gew gaws that many people make about wine. "Sometimes I watch people drink wine in restaurants, they move their glass back and forth, smell on it 15 times, then taste it a little and feel so darn important...in such people's company you just feel like an idiot", says the fashion designer and nondrinker in an interview with the magazine "La Revue du Vin de France".

And then "those people also start describing the wine in flowery words", that nobody understands. "This whole liturgy" and the "tralala" around wine is totally unnecessary: "Wine is something that you drink when you have dinner. It either tastes good or not. If it does not then do not drink that wine or any wine in the first place. Let us stop this whole gew gaws". Wine should be considered a "legal soft drug", simply a slight euphoriant, demands Lagerfeld. (aw.yoopress)
