Champagne Ruinart lost Jean-Francois Barot

FRANCE (Reims) - The year-long cellar director Jean- François Barot of Champagne Ruinart died at the age of only 68 and absolutely unexpectedly. Up until 2002, Barot had been cellar director of the first and oldest renowned champagne house for 17 years.

He considerably contributed to the success of Champagne Ruinart with his actions. He coined the taste "Goût Ruinart" of the wine house and always fought for quality. On top of that, he insistently gave priority to the vine type Chardonnay.

In the end he was awarded the desired award "Sparkling Winemaker of the Year" for his exceptional Cuvees at the "International Wine Challenge 2003". According to Ruinart, with the death of Jean-François Barot, they did not only lose a cellar master for the champagne but also a renowned cellar director and personality that was highly respected in the whole wine world. His funeral was held on the 27th March in Reims. (aw.yoopress)
