He considerably contributed to the success of Champagne Ruinart with his actions. He coined the taste "Goût Ruinart" of the wine house and always fought for quality. On top of that, he insistently gave priority to the vine type Chardonnay.
In the end he was awarded the desired award "Sparkling Winemaker of the Year" for his exceptional Cuvees at the "International Wine Challenge 2003". According to Ruinart, with the death of Jean-François Barot, they did not only lose a cellar master for the champagne but also a renowned cellar director and personality that was highly respected in the whole wine world.
