GERMANY (Würzburg) - They are considered pioneers in the wine, they were the hope of their families, they lived through a turbulent entrepreneurs existence, they wrote history, they broke structures and were role models for the next generation. They looked forward and were undeterred until ... yes until they left us. Some of the beloved and respected personalities could still say goodbye to their famlies, others it was not granted.
In retrospect, and in remembrance of the 'pioneer under fire': SERGE HOCHAR // 'Pioneer of Sonoma County': JOHN PEDRONCELLI // 'Wine Matriarch': COLLETTE FALLER // 'Port Wine Veteran': ROBIN REID // 'Former President viticulture': DR. REINHARD MUTH // 'Pinot Noir Champion': WALTER SCHUG (red.yoopress)

|JULI 2015: "Former Viticultural President Muth Died" - He had been giving reason to worry about him for quite a while already. It was probably the wine god to whom Dr. Reinhard Muth from Alsheim was called home on July 6 aged 84. The man from Rheinhessen was much more than a vintner who, together with Inge, his wife (born Hirsch), extended a wine estate founded in 1604 to a considerable size (currently 33 hectares). As early as from 1958 to 1964 he was ...|
|OKTOBER 2015: "Pinot Noir Champion Walter Schug Deceased" - When Walter Schug, who was born in Germany, moved to California in 1959, the wine industry there was still in the fledgling age.
